On Friday we had a fantastic day celebrating the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta. Everyone came dresses in medieval costumes and the children took part in feasts, jousting, sword fights and archery. We even signed our own School version of the Great Charter.

Sporting News
It has been a busy weekend for sport for Wolston children.
On Saturday morning, Oliver and Harry took place in the Warwickshire Cross Country finals. Both boys ran brilliantly on a very challenging course. Miss Lampard has nearly warmed up!!
Sunday afternoon saw the finals of the County Basketball championships at Harris High School. The Wolston team played really well, challenging for every ball and working together as a team. Well done to everyone who played!

Solar Eclipse
This morning at 9.30am many of the classes gathered outside on the playground to experience the solar eclipse that took place. All the children stood with their backs to the sun, understanding the dangers of looking directly at it, with some of the older children using 'pin hole cameras'. It didn't go very dark but the children were all very excited to have been able to take part in the experience. They were able to give some amazingly accurate explanations about what was happening as well.
School Disco
Last night we had a fabulous time at our two school discos and helped to raise £256 for the PTA who are getting closer to their funding raising goal of being to buy a class set of tablets.
Everyone had their dancing shoes on and Ms Wallace did a great job with the music to get everyone on the dance floor.
A big thank you to all the parent and staff helpers.

Red Nose Day
Thank you to everyone for supporting Red Nose Day and 'doing something funny for money'. There were lots of very strange looking children and staff at St Margaret's today!
We also had some amazing creations as part of our Bake Off challenge. Lots of thought and hard work had obviously gone into the fantastic 'show stoppers' that arrived at school this morning. It certainly made the judging very tricky and I was very pleased that I didn't have decide upon the Star Baker in each class.
Class Star Bakers:
- Little Acorns - Finley
- Sycamore -Sophia
- Rowan - Georgina
- Cedar - Lucie
- Willow - Poppy-Mae
- Aspen - Arbi
- Beech - Alfie
- Oak - Leon
We are still counting the money and will update you with the total raised.

World Book Day 2015
Today we have been enjoying World Book Day. The children (and staff!) all look amazing in their various costumes and the school is filled with lots of fantastic characters - Gruffalo, Elsa, Snow White, Dorothy, the Demon Dentist, Horrid Henry and Matilda to name but a few!
Here are some of the things that the children have said about World Book Day:
Martha - I enjoyed dressing up
Sophie - I liked the Super Potato story and when the evil pea escaped out of the fridge.
Emily - We have chosen our favourite characters. Mine is Snow White.
Flynn - I'm enjoying seeing everyone dressed up. My favourite story is Horrid Henry.
Amelie - I am Elizabeth from the book The Naughtiest Girl.
Alfie - I love doing all the book activities. I am a bit of a book worm. My favourite books are the Beano and Dandy.
Ben - I am enjoying everything!
Ysla - I like seeing everyone dressed up.

World Maths Day
We have had a great day at Wolston St Margaret's today as we have celebrated World Maths Day. The main focus for all of the children was on investigation skills, especially to develop mathematical reasoning. There have been a wide range of mathematical activities going on throughout the school and the children have had a wonderful time working together.
This morning some of our Year 6 children planned, organised and led a maths learning activity for small groups of our Foundation Stage children. Their questioning and interaction with the younger children was of an exceptional standard.
Our day ended with the whole school joining together in the hall to take part in a maths quiz devised by Year 6. They organised mixed teams of children from Year 1 up to Year 6 and put together appropriate questions for each year group. The competing children did a fabulous job and answered all of the questions accurately and often used instant mental recall!
A special 'well done' and 'thank you' to Thea, Bobby and Millie for organising and leading such a great day that was enjoyed by everyone!
